The Viticulturist: The Heartbeat of Spring Creek’s Vineyards

As Spring Creek Vintners’ Viticulturist, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the production of top-quality grapes, the foundation for their exceptional wines. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Leading a Dedicated Viticulture Team: You’ll oversee a team of vineyard managers and operators across company-owned vineyards, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Cultivating Excellence Across Marlborough: Your expertise will extend beyond company-owned vineyards. You’ll collaborate with and support a network of fantastic grape growers throughout the Marlborough region.
  • Mastermind of Vineyard Operations: From meticulous planning and development to hands-on implementation, you’ll oversee all aspects of vineyard operations, ensuring adherence to established plans developed in collaboration with the winemaking team.
  • A Viticultural Visionary: Your role goes beyond daily operations. You’ll be actively involved throughout the entire growing season, from planning pruning strategies and developing spray programs to adapting to seasonal changes and coordinating harvests.
  • Championing Quality and Efficiency: Ensuring the highest possible quality standards for all grapes is paramount. You’ll achieve this through efficient and professional vineyard management practices.
  • Budgeting and Beyond: You’ll play a key role in managing vineyard budgets and timelines, optimizing results for both contracted growers and the winemaking process.
  • Safety First: Maintaining a safe working environment is crucial. You’ll ensure all health and safety standards are met and adhered to across all vineyard operations.

The Ideal Viticulturist: A Blend of Expertise and Passion / Viticulturist Roles

While a tertiary qualification in Viticulture an individual who embodies the following qualities:

  • Proven Industry Experience: A minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple vineyard sites and stakeholders, is essential.
