The Opportunity – Gas Tech Trainee Role:

As a Gas Tech Trainee, you will learn from experienced Gas Technicians and become proficient in:

• Installing gas pipes and metering sets
• Completing gas connections to homes
• Assisting with gas leak repairs
• Operating heavy machinery in various outdoor environments across Wellington

This role offers a chance to work in different locations, gain hands-on experience in gas distribution services, and help maintain New Zealand’s critical infrastructure.

Key Skills and Experience Needed:

If you’re someone who enjoys working outdoors, isn’t afraid of hard work, and is eager to learn, we want to hear from you. The ideal candidate will have:

• A current Class 1 driver’s license (restricted minimum; HT license preferred)
• A background or interest in gas technologies (pre-trades courses are an advantage)
• NCEA Level 1 in English and Mathematics
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with tools and machinery
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
