The Role
An exciting opportunity exists to join TFI’s Millicent farming portfolio, situated 25 km northeast of Millicent. We are looking for a motivated Farm Hand to support various livestock and cropping operations. This permanent, full-time role offers the chance to work within a close-knit team, with opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
You will report to the Farm Manager and contribute to livestock care, crop production, rotational grazing, and irrigation management in a modern, high-input, high-output farming system.
About the Property
- Size: 4000 Ha with 500 Ha of center pivot irrigation.
- Livestock: Approximately 2500 Angus steers, 10,000 self-replacing Composite ewes, plus young stock.
- Farming System: High stocking rate, rotational grazing, short joining periods, and early weaning systems.
- Production: Hay and silage made on-site.
- Facilities: State-of-the-art sheep and cattle handling infrastructure.
- Tech: EU-accredited with full EID traceability for sheep and cattle.
- Equipment: Modern farm machinery and tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily farming operations to achieve production goals.
- Assist with livestock care, including calving, lambing, shearing, marking, and weaning.
- Participate in irrigation and nutrition program implementation.
- Operate farm machinery, including tractors, telehandlers, loaders, and other equipment.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience handling sheep and cattle.
- Working dogs (or willingness to acquire them).
- Machinery operation experience (preferred).
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Work Health & Safety practices.
Qualifications
- Current driver’s license (MR preferred).
