Dairy Farm Worker – Assistant – Totara Flat, New Zealand

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dairy Farm Worker Assistant to join our 500-cow dairy operation in the scenic Grey Valley, New Zealand. You will be part of a close-knit team working with a modern 44-a-side herringbone system equipped with automatic cup removers and Protrack. The role involves milking, stock management, tractor driving, and general farm maintenance. This is an ideal position for someone passionate about dairy farming and keen to enhance their skills in a well-supported environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily milking and oversee stock movements
  • Set up and shift grazing breaks
  • Operate tractors and other farm machinery
  • Carry out general farm maintenance, including fencing and repairing farm equipment
  • Maintain and clean milking machines and ensure hygiene standards are met
  • Support the team with livestock management tasks such as feeding, calving, and managing herd health

Ideal Candidate:

  • At least 1 year of experience in dairy farming
  • Confident with stock work, including identifying health issues in livestock and responding appropriately
  • Competent in tractor driving and operating farm machinery
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Physically fit, with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude

Working Hours & Roster:

  • 8 days on, 3 days off and 8 days on, 2 days off rotation
  • Expect to work approximately 10 hours per day, covering all aspects of farm operations
