job Detail
Responsible for aiding a designated machine operator or production team in a variety of duties such as maintenance, clean-up, yard work, warehouse, production, utilities, material handling, and others. Manually transport freight, stock, raw materials, and finished goods, as well as do general work. All manual labourers who are not else categorised are included.
Deuties of Labourer
- Handles assignments in a recurring and/or sequential way in order to complete specified responsibilities
- Maintains a tidy work environment
- Always wears personal protective equipment and observes all safety laws.
- Notify the supervisor immediately of any dangerous situations or malfunctioning equipment.
- Weekly safety meetings must be attended.
Cleaning responsibilities
- During downtime, clean up the machinery and the surrounding area to keep it clean and clear of debris.
- Machines and conveyors are cleaned.
- Cleans floors and collects reusable scrap for recycling.
- Remove garbage and clutter from production areas.
- In charge of keeping pallets nice and ordered.
Utilities / Production Responsibilities of Production Labourer
- Operates machinery or equipment as trained and instructed, always adhering to safety rules.
- Assists the lead operator in the preparation of shift production.
- Work closely with the lead operator to learn the mechanics and functioning of the equipment on which you will be assisting.
- As assigned, you may be expected to work with conveyors, ramps, elevators, and other machinery.
- Operating equipment such as hoppers, bagging and sealing machines, forklifts, palletizers, hydraulic equipment, powered tractors or vehicles, among others, may be required. These tasks necessitate internal certification/training.
- Use a range of hand tools.
Duties in the yard or warehouse
- Assists in truck loading and unloading.
- Assists in the completion of shipping and receiving papers
- Properly packages and labels merchandise
- Take care of stockpiles
- Check the loads that are departing the premises.
- Product inventory should be maintained, verified, and counted on a regular basis.
- Other job-related duties and responsibilities may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.
Qualifications / Education / Experience
- Prior experience in production is preferred.
- The ability to read and understand simple instructions
- Ability to use common sense to carry out extensive but uncomplicated written or oral instructions
- capability of adhering to company production and safety regulations
- Read a limited number of two and three syllable words and notice similarities and differences between words and sequence of numbers
- Capable of completing internal certification training
- Capability to read and write simple sentences
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit integers, as well as multiply and divide by tens and hundredths
- Lock out/tag out methods must be demonstrated.
- It is necessary to keep a key lock on hand at all times.
- Weekly safety meetings must be attended.
Physical Prerequisites
- The person is frequently required to talk or hear while executing the activities of this job.
- The employee will have to sit for long periods of time.
- The employee may be required to stand on their feet regularly.
- The individual must be able to lift and/or move up to 65 pounds from the ground. Employees may be required to lift more than 65 pounds on occasion; if this is the case, they should engage in team lifting and/or use the available equipment to lift safely.
- Employees must be able to do physical activities that require significant use of their arms, legs, and entire body – bending, squatting, climbing – utilising steps and ladders, pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching.
