Standby messenger and Security Guard jobs in UK The Clerk of Tynwald is looking for someone to fill the position of Standby Messenger and Security Guard.

Applications are being accepted for this interesting position, which will provide cover for duties such as security associated with access to Chambers and assisting Members and Officers of Tynwald in their parliamentary duties on sitting days of Tynwald, the House of Keys, and the Legislative Council on an as-needed basis. The office holder may also be required to perform obligations on Tynwald Day.

There are chances, but no duty, to participate in extra tasks such as Tynwald or its Branches special sittings, committee hearings, or other activities.

The major duties and responsibilities for the position are outlined in the Additional Particulars.

This position is paid £11.41 per hour, with a percentage payout in lieu of annual leave. Payment for hours done would be made on the 25th of the month, in arrears. The position does not have a superannuation benefit.

Candidates must possess the following basic characteristics:

• like working as a member of a team;
• act impartially and with judgement;
• be self-assured while interacting with members of the public and Tynwald members
• have a flexible attitude to work, including the willingness to take on extra responsibilities on an as-needed basis
