McDonald’s Corporation is an American fast-food company founded in 1940 in San Bernardino, California, USA, as a restaurant run by Richard and Maurice MacDonald. They redesigned their business as a hamburger stand, and later turned the company into a franchise, with the Golden Arches logo unveiled in 1953 at a location in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1955, Reynolds, a businessman, joined the company as a franchise agent and began buying chains from the McDonald brothers. McDonald’s previously headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois, but moved its global headquarters to Chicago in June 2018.
McDonald’s is the world’s largest restaurant chain, serving 69 million customers daily in more than 100 countries with over 37,8555 outlets per year. Although McDonald’s is known for its hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and french fries, it also includes chicken products, snacks, soft drinks, milkshakes, wraps, and desserts. In response to negative feedback due to changing customer interest and the unwillingness of its food, the company has added to its menu salads, fish, sodas, and fruit. McDonald’s Corporation’s revenue comes from rent, royalties, and fees paid by franchisees, as well as sales of company-run restaurants. According to two reports published in 2018, McDonald’s is the world’s second-largest private employer with 1.7 million employees (2.3 million behind Walmart). As of 2020, McDonald’s is the ninth-largest global brand rating.
