Job Opportunity: Freezer Meal Packer & Food Prep Assistant
We are currently seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and reliable individual to become a vital part of our kitchen operations at the Grey Lynn branch. This role will primarily focus on packing our wide range of freezer meals, which includes delicious entrees, hearty soups, and delectable desserts, along with participating in basic food preparation tasks. Role Responsibilities for Freezer Meal Packer / Food Preparation
Your primary responsibility will be to manage the packing process of our freezer meal selection. This includes:
- Portioning Meals with Precision: Each meal we offer must be packed according to strict guidelines that ensure consistent taste, presentation, and nutrition. You will be required to weigh and portion each element of the meal with accuracy to comply with nutritional standards.
- Maintaining Quality Standards: At Ripe, quality is key. You’ll be expected to uphold our high standards when it comes to packaging, labeling, storage, and overall presentation.
- Labeling & Packaging: Ensuring each packaged item is labeled correctly with all necessary information including ingredients, nutritional content, best-before dates, and batch numbers.
- Inventory Management: Monitoring stock levels of meal containers, packaging materials, and ingredients. You will notify your supervisor when supplies are running low.
- Food Preparation Support: When not packing, you may assist with basic food prep tasks, including chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, assembling simple dishes, or cleaning kitchen equipment.
- Cleaning & Hygiene: Maintaining cleanliness and adhering to food safety practices throughout your shift.
- Team Collaboration: Working closely with the rest of the kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow and effective communication.
Work Schedule for Freezer Meal Packer / Food Preparation
This is a full-time position. The standard work hours are: Monday to Friday: 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM

Essential Qualities & Skills:
- Attention to Detail: You must be meticulous in your work, especially with portion control and labeling.
- Time Management: Able to meet daily production deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Physical Fitness: Capable of lifting crates up to 15kg and standing for extended periods.
- Communication Skills: Clear and respectful communication with team members and supervisors.
- Adaptability: Able to shift between packing and prep tasks based on operational needs.
- Punctuality & Reliability: Consistent attendance and commitment to the scheduled hours.
- Positive Attitude: Enthusiastic, willing to learn, and cooperative.
Desirable Experience (Not Mandatory):
- Prior experience in a commercial kitchen, food production facility, or hospitality environment.
- Familiarity with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Understanding of basic nutritional requirements. Note: Comprehensive training will be provided to the selected candidate.
