Vitonga Farms, a leading agricultural operation based just 8 minutes (9 km) North-West of Moree, NSW, is currently seeking a Farm Operator to join its dynamic team. With extensive citrus orchards, drip-irrigated systems, and diverse crop production, Vitonga Farms is a prominent name in Australian agriculture. The farm supports a significant portion of the Grove Juice business, supplying premium citrus products to major supermarkets and export markets in South-East Asia.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Farm Operator to support a variety of horticulture projects on the farm. This position involves machinery operation, light maintenance, and tree care. A key aspect of the role is ensuring optimal farm efficiency, contributing to Work Health and Safety (WHS) improvements, and working closely with a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Farm Machinery Operation: Operate and maintain farm machinery, perform minor repairs, and provide operational support.
  • Tree Maintenance: Perform tasks such as pruning, slashing, misting, skirting, and general citrus tree upkeep to ensure optimal growth and quality.
  • WHS Support: Help improve and adhere to Work Health and Safety practices, ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with farm teams, contributing to a positive and cooperative work environment.
  • General Farm Tasks: Participate in various farm operations such as earthworks and general maintenance duties.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experienced Professionals: At least 2 years of experience operating farm machinery in agricultural environments.
  • Detail-Oriented: Proficient at identifying and addressing minor machinery issues before they become larger problems.
  • Team Players: Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to farm projects.
  • Outdoor Enthusiasts: Comfortable working in varying weather conditions across the farm.
  • Proactive Learners: Eager to gain new skills in areas such as mobile plant operations and machinery maintenance.

Key Requirements

  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency: Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents; working visa holders may also be considered.
  • Driver’s License: A valid Australian driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are required.
  • Farm Machinery Experience: Proven experience operating agricultural machinery, including tractors, harvesters, or irrigation systems.
  • Additional Skills (Advantageous): Certification in Chem Cert, Forklift operations, or Truck Licenses are desirable.
  • Work Health and Safety Focus: Demonstrated commitment to WHS practices and a strong work ethic.
