Job Description for General Labourer 2024
Bayfield Berry Farm is looking for general farm laborers to assist in fruit and vegetable farming. This seasonal role includes physically demanding tasks such as planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops. Workers will also sort, grade, and pack fruits and vegetables, operate farm machinery, and maintain fields. Experience is not required, and on-site training will be provided.
Work Environment
This role involves outdoor work in varying weather conditions, from wet and cold to hot and dusty environments. You’ll be working on fruit and vegetable crops like apples, berries, and asparagus.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Crop Care: Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops.
- Harvesting: Pick, sort, and pack fruits and vegetables.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain farm machinery like tractors and hand tools.
- Quality Control: Examine produce for quality, sorting into marketable and non-marketable categories.
