Key Responsibilities:

  • Welding & Fabrication: Operate welding machines to repair and fabricate metal components. Techniques include oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW/TIG), and brazing.
  • Weld Inspections: Examine welds to ensure they meet technical specifications and safety standards.
  • Equipment Operations: Use hoisting and lifting equipment to position and manipulate heavy materials.
  • Repair Cast Iron: Specialize in repairing cast iron using appropriate techniques and machinery.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Registered Apprenticeship Certificate (Level 1 or Pre-Apprenticeship).
  • Experience: 1-2 years in a welding or metal fabrication environment.
  • Certifications: WHMIS Certificate, Forklift Operator Certification.

Workplace Environment:

  • On-Site: All tasks are performed at the physical location.
  • Conditions: Dusty, hot, noisy, physically demanding with frequent lifting of heavy loads (up to 23 kg).
