Education and Experience:

• Registered Apprenticeship certificate
• Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years

Journeyman/woman welder Responsibilities: As a Journeyman/Woman Welder, your tasks will include:

• Interpreting welding process specifications
• Reading and interpreting welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals, and processes
• Examining welds to ensure they meet standards and/or specifications
• Operating brakes, shears, and other metal shaping, straightening, and bending machines
• Determining the weldability of materials
• Operating hoisting and lifting equipment
• Operating previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products
• Starting up, shutting down, adjusting, and monitoring robotic welding production lines
• Maintaining and performing minor repairs on welding, brazing, and soldering equipment

Credentials:

• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
• Welder Trade Red Seal Certificate

Additional Information:

• Transportation/travel information: Own transportation
• Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Hand-eye co-ordination, Standing for extended periods, Weight handling up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
