Food Safety and Quality Assurance Specialist in the Oil and Gas Industry

Job Purpose:
As a Food and Welfare Specialist at QatarEnergy LNG, your primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and quality of food in diverse locations, including offshore sites, the Ras Laffan plant, the Al Khor community, and Doha. Your expertise will be crucial in conducting hazard analyses, identifying critical control points, and establishing robust monitoring systems to guarantee the well-being of consumers.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Hazard Analysis:
- Analyze processes for biological, chemical, and physical hazards.
- Determine critical control points (CCPs) to maintain control over potential hazards.
- Establish monitoring systems to ensure food safety.
Audits and Compliance:
- Perform audits on catering facilities to uphold food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with food safety regulations in the oil and gas industry.
- Identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations to management.
Documentation and Procedures:
- Establish standard operating procedures in compliance with National Health Authority regulations.
- Take corrective action if critical control points are found to be out of control.
- Develop a food safety strategy to prevent contamination through comprehensive processes.
Equipment Maintenance and Coordination:
- Ensure preventive maintenance and calibrations of equipment.
- Coordinate services such as waste removal and pest control to maintain a hygienic environment.
Emergency Response Preparedness:
- Establish protocols for emergency response to stop the food chain and trace product origin in case of incidents.
- Conduct supplier audits and monitor compliance with health and fire regulations.
Investigation and Communication:
- Investigate thoroughly in case of potential food contamination/poisoning incidents.
- Communicate information about food safety developments throughout the organization.
- Provide information to consumers when necessary, including addressing consumer feedback and complaints.
Training and Qualifications:
- Prepare training material and organize training programs for food safety and hygiene.
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Engineering, Food Science, Food Technology, or Microbiology.
- Have a minimum of 8 years experience in implementing quality assurance and food safety programs in industrial oil and gas settings.
